Family, Fortunes and Fate on Exmoor – the Knight family in their own words - An illustrated talk by Rob Wilson-North, Head of Conservation and Access, Exmoor National Park Authority
Join Rob Wilson-North and friends at Simonsbath House Hotel for a memorable evening of Exmoor history and hospitality. Here is a chance to delve into the story of the Knight family, told in their own words and those who knew them and brought to life through the talents of local actors using letters from the recently discovered horde of family documents found in Kidderminster.
The story of the family of John Knight, the man who made Exmoor, is one of financial uncertainty, the vagaries and challenges of the high moor, family illness, tenants, litigation and the loss of a hoped-for inheritance - it is an intense story: one of Exmoor’s great family stories.
The centrepiece of the evening is a two-course Taste of Exmoor menu, provided by Simonsbath House Hotel.
Advance booking only. Admission £25, includes a Wicked Wolf Exmoor Gin cocktail, or non-alcoholic alternative, on arrival and a two-course meal, served in the interval at 7.30pm. Menus will be sent out on receipt of your booking. Space is limited so early booking is advised.
